Annotation: MARTIN ŠVENĚK. The Prague Stay of Jan Krystof Liska Charles University in Prague, Faculty of Arts, Department of Art History 2013, 70 p, Bachelor Degree Thesis. The thesis is dealing with the work of Jan Krystof Liska for selected Prague's churches and discusses its impact on the local cultural environment. It defines its role in the development of the Czech Baroque painting in Prague and tries to point out its individual quality and benefit on specific examples. There is presented summary of the current knowledge concerning the authorship, chronology, the results of restoration, painter's conception including the views of leading experts and color reproductions concerning each of those selected works of art. A Comparison of Vanitas Still Life in Italian, French and Dutch 17th Century Environment and Searching for Influences on Czech School

My diploma thesis concerns itself with the depiction of the still life, in particular the type known as "vanitas", symbolizing the transience of human life. I focus on several artists working in Italy, France and Netherlands during the 17th century - Salvator Rosa, Simon Renard de Saint Andre, Jan Davidsz de Heem, and Nicolaes van Verendael - and explore their influence on the Czech artists Johann Adalbert Angermeyer, Jan Kaspar Hirschely, and Vaclav Vavrinec Reiner, who dealt with the same topic.
Pictures of the All Saint Church on Prague Castle

The subject of bachelor thesis is painted decorations of collegiate church of Panna Marie and church All Saints church at Prague Castle (next only the All Saints Church). The introduction is dedicated to the chapel itself. It is followed by description and art - historical evaluation of the local paintings. This part of work monitors origins of the paintings, it deals with the artists and the buyers, iconography and also adjustments and changes in placement of the paintings. Although we can find there paintings from major domestic and foreign artists of the Renaissance and Baroque periods, namely from Hans von Aachen (1551/52-1615), Charles Dorigny (1534-1551), Václav Vavřinec Reiner (1689-1743) and Kristian Šebastián Dittmann from Lavenstein (1639-1701), these paintings have not been properly evaluated yet. It is the purpose of this work to focus entirely on the painting rather than aiming the architecture and cultural history. Pilgrimage church of Virgin Mary of Sorrows in Dobrá Voda near to České Budějovice

This thesis deals with the Pilgrimage church of our Lady of Sorrows in Dobrá Voda close to České Budějovice. This church belongs to the most important historical sights of czech baroque architecture. At firts the thesis tells something about the history of a village Dobrá Voda then you can read about the original church, which stand in the locality before present sacral monument. There is a biography an architect of Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer together with a description of his work. The main part of the thesis focuses on the biography and church frescoes from the important baroque painter Václav Vavřinec Reiner. The next part devotes to the church furniture together with its rich iconography. Then there is reference to chapels of the cross road which are situated close the church. The final part of my thesis tells about the realization of restoration works from the nineties years of the 20th century.
